New series: The Story of Redemption
Whether you know these events or are encountering them for the first time, I pray that this series will deepen your understanding of God’s great plan of redemption.
From the very first words of the Bible, “In the beginning, God created” to the final cry of “Come, Lord Jesus!” Scripture tells a single, unified story—the story of redemption (Ge 1:1; Rev 22:20). It is a story of God’s love, justice, and faithfulness to a broken and rebellious people. It is a story that stretches across the ages, from creation to new creation, and it centers on the person and work of Jesus Christ.
At the heart of this story is the idea of covenant, the unbreakable promises God makes to his people. Through these covenants, God reveals his plan to redeem humanity from the curse of sin and death that entered the world through Adam. Each stage of the story—creation, fall, promise, law, kingship, exile, and return—points forward to the coming of Christ, the One who would fulfill every covenant, bear the sins of the world, and restore all things. In him, the promises made to Abraham, Moses, and David find their fulfillment, and the path to reconciliation with God is opened for all who believe.
But this story doesn’t end at the cross or the empty tomb. It continues through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the gospel’s spread through the apostles, and the church’s growth as a global, Spirit-empowered body. It reaches its ultimate fulfillment in the return of Christ, the final judgment, and the creation of a new heaven and earth where sin, suffering, and death are no more.
This series traces the story of redemption through the critical moments of the Bible, showing how God’s plan to save his people unfolds from beginning to end. It is a story marked by the tension of the “already and not yet,” where Christ’s victory over sin and death has been secured, yet the fullness of his kingdom is still to come. Along the way, we see God’s grace, mercy, and justice displayed as he reconciles a sinful world to himself.
The story of redemption is not an impersonal one. It is the story in which we, believers united to Christ, find our place. As we walk through these significant moments—from the creation and fall to the covenants and the cross, to the second coming and the new creation—we are reminded that we are part of this grand narrative. God’s redemptive work continues in our lives as he sanctifies us, calls us to faithfulness, and fills us with the hope of eternity in his presence.
Whether you are familiar with these events or encountering them for the first time, I pray that this series will deepen your understanding of God’s great plan of redemption and draw you closer to the One who makes all things new. The story has been written, the victory has been won, and the final chapter is coming. Let us live in light of this glorious hope.
