In his greeting to the Ephesians, Paul says, “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” (Eph 1:2). God’s grace is the fountain from which the stream of peace flows. Paul wished that the Ephesians might have spiritual prosperity. In Hebrew, the word for peace is shalom: “May God make you complete and keep you well.”
Of course, there can be no peace with God apart from Christ. In Romans, Paul said, “We were reconciled to God by the death of his Son” (Ro 5:10). Grace and peace come from both God the Father and Christ the Son.
