Rick Santorum’s Passionate Support for Killing Americans

  • No offense to Rick Santorum supporters, but this is some of the most frightening rhetoric I’ve ever heard. I’ll explain why after you watch the video.

First, Santorum criticizes the Obama administration for doing “little to nothing” to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. I’m curious as to what more he’d like to see done. Santorum even admitted in this brief clip that we have assassinated Iranian scientists as a preemptive strike against Iran’s uranium enrichment. In other words, we’re killing civilians to stop them from ever obtaining nukes. Should we kill more people?

Second, Santorum’s enthusiasm about American terrorist attacks within Iran is troubling to me. Remember this is all part of a war on terror. If terrorism is what we are trying to stop, how can a terrorist attack ever be justified? We are not at war with Iran–not yet anyway–so covertly assassinating Iranians is a terrorist attack.

Last and most horrifying of all, Santorum clearly defends the murder of American citizens–without trial and certainly without conviction–under the guise of a war on terror. Anwar al-Awlaki was far from an innocent man. He was a terrorist-sympathizer with a criminal record. He may have very well been a “regional commander” within al-Qaeda, but any evidence against him was never heard because he was never given a trial.

Despite your opinions of al-Awlaki or the response by the United States, his murder set a terrible precedence which nullifies the Sixth Amendment to the Constitution. Now, if the President or some guy in a suit behind a desk in Washington decides any person is a terrorist–whatever that means because the term may be applied to those having never committed an act of terrorism–can be executed without trial. The sky’s now the limit for absolute tyranny.

As far as I know, Barack Obama, Newt Gingrich, and Mitt Romney all share Santorum’s sentiment towards fighting so-called terrorism at home and abroad. But there is something about Rick Santorum’s tone that sets him apart from the rest. I guess it would be the eagerness of his trigger finger. Not only does he defend and support what any Christ-minded person would at least be hesitant about, he does so with passionate vigor.

I have been told that Santorum is the guy Christian conservatives should support. Why is that? Has he proven himself to be a defender of the Constitution? Has he vowed to fight for human–or even American–rights?

It is very interesting how far he's willing to take the "fight for our freedom". When I read the title though I thought you were going to be talking about how he says he's the most pro-life candidate, yet brags about voting for government funding of Planned Parenthood. It's like saying we shouldn't kill cows, but fundraising for McDonalds. That's a really terrible metaphor, I know, but my brain's fried.

jeremysarber Yes. Yes I did. Very good video. A very intelligent breakdown, since it is true that many Catholic bloggers and tweeps are stomping for Santorum.

jimmsans I would agree. He, like most politicians, is a hypocrite and does not stand for freedom or the Constitution.
