The 2012 #CandCShow Giveaway Contest
-
As a thank you to the many great listeners of Coffee & Cigarettes and the many wonderful readers of JeremySarber.com, I’ve decided to give back this year by offering a few prizes to six loyal friends. All six winners will receive their very own Coffee & Cigarettes coffee mug.
First place will have his/her choice of one of six prizes (shown below). Second place will choose second (from the remaining prizes), third will choose third, etc. until all six prizes have been awarded.
The Prizes
The prize list was inspired by books I have read and products I personally use–all of which I love.
The audio books are all fictional classics with insightful commentary on history, government, and society. I have chosen to give away audio versions of the books simply because I love audio. After all, I’m a podcaster.
I’m also an avid reader which explains the Kindle Touch. I have one and, as surprising as it was to me, I do not miss holding real books in my hand.
As you might expect, I’m also a coffee drinker. After owning a Keurig, I’ll never go back to a regular coffeemaker.
The most valuable prize on the list is the 4th Generation Apple iPod Touch. I do not own one but I have been using an iPhone 4 since last spring. I can hardly remember life before it. Outside of an iPod’s many, many uses, it’s a great way to subscribe to or download your favorite podcasts–such as Coffee & Cigarettes.
How To Earn Points
The contest is essentially a competition. There are five ways to earn points. At the release of episode 250, points will stop being counted and the six people with the most points will be announced as winners on episode 251.
1) Share episodes of the podcast on Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ (1 point)
2) Link to an episode of the podcast from a blog post (2 points)
3) Rate and review the podcast in iTunes (10 points)
4) Contribute financially to the podcast (10 points per dollar)
5) Purchase a product from the online store (20 points per item)IMPORTANT: Only the points reported in the comment section below will be counted.
Contest Rules
1) Share episodes of the podcast on Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ (1 point)
Each time you share an episode of Coffee & Cigarettes on either Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ (other social networks are not included as of now), you will receive one point. If you share the same episode of the podcast on multiple sites, you will receive one point for each. You will need to report each share in the comment section below. Be sure to include a link to your post.
On Facebook, you can get the direct link to your post by clicking the timestamp (Google+ is the same)…
On Twitter, you can get the direct link to your post by clicking “Details”…
You will also need to type your own personalized message when you share an episode. For instance, instead of tweeting, [insert title of episode here], you’ll want to tweet, “I encourage you to listen to this podcast. He made some good points about America’s foreign policy.” (That’s just an example. Write whatever you want.)
2) Link to an episode of the podcast from a blog post (2 points)
If you have your own blog, you can link to an episode of Coffee & Cigarettes for two points. The post does not have to be all about the episode. It could be about a related topic and you simply recommend the podcast for more content on the subject. The link cannot be randomly tossed into a post about something entirely different. It must be obvious and direct people to the episode. By the way, links in the sidebar or a blogroll list do not count.
3) Rate and review the podcast in iTunes (10 points)
Open iTunes, visit the iTunes Store, and look up the Coffee & Cigarettes podcast. To make things simple, you could just click this link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/coffee-and-cigarettes/id444399674
If you scroll down, you will see a “Customer Reviews” section where you can write your own review. You will need to rate and type a short review of the podcast. It’ll take a few minutes, but once the review is published in iTunes for the world to see, come back here and report it in the comments section below. You won’t be able to provide a direct link so be sure to include your username in the iTunes Store.
4) Contribute financially to the podcast (10 points per dollar)
For every $1.00 you contribute to the podcast, you will receive ten points. This is the quickest way to rack up points in a hurry. Visit http://jeremysarber.com/support and use the “ChipIn” widget to donate. Contributions are made securely through PayPal. You may use your PayPal account or a credit/debit card.
Again, be sure to report the points you’ve earned in the comment section below.
5) Purchase a product from the online store (20 points per item)
If you want to earn major points and feel good about yourself, purchase an item or two from the Coffee & Cigarettes online store. Each item you buy will get you 20 points. Plus, one dollar of every item purchased goes to help a local family in need. Once you’ve finished the check-out process, come back here and report it in the comment section below. If you choose to remain anonymous, I’ll need you to at least include your zip code in your comment so I can match you up with your purchase.
IMPORTANT: Only the points reported in the comment section below will be counted.
You’ll know your points have been officially counted when I “Like” your comment below.
If you have previously written a review in iTunes, donated to the podcast, or bought merchandise from the online store–even if you were a winner in the first #CandCShow contest–you are allowed to report those points.
I just contributed $10 to the podcast via paypal
Just won the sponsor a podcast ebay auction. Paid via paypal. Not sure why people are not taking advantage of this opportunity. Great exposure via your podcasts. Thanks, Jeremy. Sorry you're stuck with me again. I did have competition, but I won.
I tweeted about episode 123. Can't get the link from Twiiter on my phone, but you did reply to it.
Just made a 10.00 contribution to C and C. Loved the latest podcast 137. I don't want either of the books mentioned in the podcast so save them for the next two people that contribute at least 5.00.
Am I in third or fourth place?
*10 points for iTunes review
*300 points for $30 donation
Hey, Jeremy! Sorry I haven't made any new comments/posts. I've been behind in my podcasts. :P I'm now listening to 125 episode of 133 of Coffee & Cigarettes.... Great contest by the way. Clever, very clever. Anyway, I hope all is well in NC with you and Danae. :)
@KathyLeeWelker No worries. It's great to have you back. ;) I hope you're still enjoying the show. By the way, your points move you straight into 3rd place.
jeremysarber KathyLeeWelker She's in second place! Yikes. I'm going to have to get busy. Too close for comfort. Ha
I linked to a post of yours in this blog entry of mine:
Just paid for the Ebay auction. I threw in another 20.00 contribution too. Five mentions on your podcast x five days = 25.00. People need to take advantage of that Ebay auction. That was a steal!

Shared your behind the scenes! PS...loving how your wife's craft desk is adjacent to yours. Does she craft while you podcast? So cute. =)
MimiLecat I think she does craft while he podcasts because if you listen to Deadly Emancipation real closely at one point you can hear knitting needles fall to the ground.
louisvillebobby MimiLecat I make it my goal to record before she gets home in the late afternoon. She's too distracting. That doesn't say as much about her as it does me. I'm easily distracted.
Bobby, that's hilarious.
How receptive of you to pick up on that. :D

Didn't feel the need to give an intro on this one. Yours is perfect. I loved this episode by the way. Best, Mimi.

Jeremy, I want to make another donation to your podcasts but the link above to http://jeremysarber.com/support seems to take me to an error page. Not sure how I did it before.
