Blogging to Self-Hosted WordPress from an iPhone

  • Blogging from an iPhone may not be the most practical way to write, but for those personal bloggers who want to share their thoughts but have no access to a computer, it really is a convenient option.

First, you’ll need the WordPress for iPhone app (also available for iPad).

Next, you’ll need to enable the XML-RPC setting in your WordPress Dashboard.

The only thing missing from the WordPress for iOS app is the ability to add a featured image. However, if you really want a featured image on your mobile posts, you could always install the FPW Category Thumbnails plugin in your WordPress site. This plugin gives you the ability to automatically add a featured image to any post within a particular category. If nothing else, you could create a “Mobile Posts” category for those times when you’ll be publishing from your phone or tablet and assign that category a default featured image.

By the way, Android users also have a WordPress app available to them.
