One of the main topics of political discussion of late is the relevance of the threat of radical militant Islam. Well, I truly believe this faction of that particular faith is in fact very dangerous, but I would like to raise another question. Is there another religion in this country that also poses a threat to Americans? I believe there is. This is not the typical religion with Sunday morning service at church or meeting in the synagogues on the Sabbath. No, this religion actually despises the thought of religion. Paradoxical, I know. I am speaking of religious secularism (otherwise known as the secular progression movement).
True, religious secularism doesn’t hold many of the characteristics associated with established religion throughout the world, but if one looks deeper into the movement itself, the elements of religion begin to become more apparent.
First, like all other religions, there is a passion associated with it that its followers carry, and this passion is the driving force in their lives. The beliefs that secular progressives hold guide their actions and cause them to dedicate their lives to their cause. Now, there is nothing wrong with being passionate about a belief that a person holds, but when that passion leads to stifling other religions from practicing their beliefs, it not only becomes morally wrong, but it also becomes against the law.
Second, it is common practice in most religions to rear children to follow the beliefs that each religion holds, and this is a responsibility held by their parents. In the “relgion” of secualr progression, the parents do the same. But it doesn’t stop there. Secular progressives try to endoctrinate the populous youth. Their beliefs supercede all other family values that a child may be taught at home, and the morals that parents teach to their children are countered every day in the classrooms and on television shows. Religious beliefs, especially Christianity, are taught to be fallacy and ignorant superstition to children.
Another parallel is the belief in a divine being. However, instead of worshiping God, they worship themselves. They teach self-sanctification. Each person has his own right to believe what is right and what is wrong, and if this belief is beneficial to him, it becomes his own reality or truth.
You may wonder how this theology could be a threat to you or to this nation. How could something like this become so powerful and widespread that it begins to evolve into a national pandemic of religious oppression? The answer is governmental growth.
By taking away the power of local and family sovereignty, the government can implement policies and laws that make it difficult and/or illegal to practice religion freely or instill values in the lives of children. A good example of this is the left’s reluctance to allow parents to decide where their children attend school. Another is the Supreme Court’s constant rulings to drive a larger gap between God’s name and anything publicly owned or operated.
I say all this to make a point. This is the most important election that his country has seen in many years, and the outcome of this election will have a profound effect on our lives much longer than the one or two terms our next president may be in office, no matter who wins. I challenge anyone who reads this to do everything in your power to stop the secular progressive movement and help take our country off the path to moral destruction. And the quintessential power that you have to do this is your power to vote.
Benjamin Franklin, one of the founding fathers who is referenced most often as being non-religious, gave a speech during the Constitutional Convention at a time when progress was halted by disagreements, and it seemed that deliberations were going nowhere. This is an excerpt from that speech:
…I have lived, sir [to the president], a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth–that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an entire empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured, sir, in the Sacred Writings, that “except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that build it.” I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without His concurring aid that we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel: we shall be divided by our little partial local interests; our projects will be confounded, and we ourselves shall become a reproach and byword down to future ages. And what is worse, mankind may hereafter from this unfortunate instance, despair of establishing governments by human wisdom and leave it to chance, war, and conquest…
He understood the importance of including God in the decisions that effect a people. We can not forget God’s role in this country, because, if we do, the Bible is clear what will happen. The secular progressive movement is an enemy to this nation and its people. Please join the fight to stop it.
